Do you get paid by the product providers to promote their products?

No. We do not advertise providers or their products but simply show the best providers based on independent research and rated by you. The Provider Panel will constantly change as research and your ratings impact the providers shown in the panel. If you decide to purchase a product from this list of Providers we will get either a small percentage of the cost of the purchase or a flat fee from the company concerned. This is called an Affiliate Fee. Some companies do not pay Affiliate Fees; you will see the MyMoneyPA logo in this instance as we are not allowed to use their logo. The Provider Panel is not influenced by whether a Fee is paid or not as our approach is to be totally unbiased.

How do I know the product provider’s panel is unbiased?

Wherever possible, we compile our Product Provider Panels by researching publicly available consumer surveys. Examples of those used are from:

- Which?

- Moneywise

- Moneyfacts

- Uswitch

- Moneysupermarket

- verygoodservice.com

- reviewcentre.com

- trustpilot.co.uk

- feefo.com

Our Panels are presented in tiers as follows:

Tier 1 – providers appearing at the top of at least two surveys in the given category

Tier 2 – providers appearing at the top of at least one survey in the given category

Tier 3 - the third tier is based upon your recommendations and Ratings and show those with the top scores

Where this approach is not possible, say, where there are no surveys, we make a clear statement such as:

“We cannot find any surveys for this product category”

followed by an explanation of why providers have been chosen. We also provide additional information about Providers where we think it will help.

How do I get reminded about a date coming up?

The date on which you receive an email reminder is entirely up to you and can be set via your Money Diary. Once a reminder is in your diary you will receive an email to the email address you have provided. This will show the event you want reminding about with links back to your Money Diary and to the list of Product Providers relevant to the reminder.

Isn’t this just another comparison site?

MyMoneyPA is not a comparison site. We believe that people buy not only on price but on service too. In providing access to independent research and other customer experiences you have a wealth of information to make an informed decision. The comparison sites do not cover the whole of the market whereas our research does.

Are you truly independent?

Yes. MyMoneyPA has no links with comparison sites, third party providers or any other organisation that can impact influence our independence. All our research is independently sourced and Provider Ratings come from fellow users i.e. those people who have experience of dealing with the Product Provider concerned.

MyMoneyPA requires very little data. How much data you provide is up to you, our objective is to put you in control so you provide whatever data allows you to manage your affairs. You can also be assured that the site is 100% secure and no personal data will be shared or made available to any third party or external organisation.

I use the - calendar in the kitchen – outlook – my filofax – Google - iPhone to remind me, why is MyMoneyPA better?

All the above are well used methods but they don’t give you the complete picture and none of them give you easy access to the best Product Providers related to the Reminder.

Will reminders automatically stop once action is taken?

We have put you in control so once you have chosen your product provider you will need to update your diary with the new renewal date. You will be sent one reminder, once the reminder is sent the entry in the Diary turns orange. If you want to receive another reminder before the Review date you can reset the Reminder date and it will turn to green and you will receive another reminder at the appropriate time.

I receive reminders from product suppliers, e.g. the car insurance company, so why is this any different?

These Reminders often come out too late or rely on inertia i.e. you NOT doing anything (see below). They also give you no alternatives and rely on you having to look for information. MyMoneyPA provides you with the best Providers in that category for you to choose so potentially saving you time and money. You can also reset reminders so they come to you when you want them.

What is inertia and why do Product Providers rely on it?

Inertia is where a customer renews an existing product as there is less effort required in taking no action. This tends to occur due to lack of time and suitable information to make an informed decision comparing other Providers products. Product Providers like “inertia” from existing customers as they are more profitable. So often their best products and deals are only available to new customers. It is in your interest to check and shop around and MyMoneyPA reminds you and gives you the information to do so.

Putting loads of information into a computer is time consuming and laborious, why should I bother?

MyMoneyPA has been designed to take as little or as much information to allow you to manage your affairs. You will also gain access to fellow customers Product Ratings so you have a very useful insight into other consumer’s experiences.

The Money Planner is overwhelming and complex with many categories and columns.

The Money Planner is optional – you don’t need to use it. However if you do you will find you can put as little or as much information as you wish relevant to your circumstances. The sections you don’t want to use can be hidden. What the Planner is useful for is seeing, in one place, all the main household commitments you have and what the effect on the total picture is when savings are made in key areas. The Money Planner can be used at an individual or household level.

Can I put my own categories into the planner?

Yes. The Planner has been designed so it can be specific to your needs.
I don’t want to put my income into the planner as it’s too personal and I’m wary of hackers. There is no requirement to put your income or other personal or bank details into the Planner or Diary. And there are no links with your bank account. If you wish to put personal data such as income into the Planner it will be for your eyes only. You can be assured that the site is secure in terms of storing your personal data.

MyMoneyPA provides a free service; however we do need to make money so we can pay staff, promote the website and further develop the service to you.

We get paid a fee from most product Providers when you click through to their website and make a purchase although not every Provider provides a fee. Our Provider panel is created by using external independent research and also by ratings provided by our customers. There is no discrimination between those that pay us a fee and those that don’t so you can rest assured that you are receiving totally independent information.

It is important to us that we stay independent from product providers. Our service is about putting you in control and giving you information so you can make purchasing decisions to suit your circumstances.

How are the Ratings compiled?

Our Ratings provide you with information from others in the community about Product Providers in terms of star rating and good and negative points. This allows you to better understand aspects such as value of money, customer service, product quality, after sales care and a host of other things. It also provides you with an opportunity to have your say whether good or bad. Most people tend to get vocal when they have a bad experience but it’s important to comment and rate providers when you have a really good experience too.

The ratings provide additional information that complements the research we have done on Product Providers. We encourage you to rate all your product suppliers and that way you contribute to a wealth of information for the benefit of everyone in the community including you!
